I'm looking for some tips on an articulated stunt dummy to chuck off a roof. Anyone built one, and from what? How much did it cost? Any websites with tips would be useful too.

Hi Untamed.
You could try using The smallest diameter plastic pipe that they use in plumbing and use wooden blocks in the ends to articulate the limbs,To make the 'skeleton' of the dummy then wrap foam rubber round to pad it out. As for the head you could try to get one of those polystyrene heads that they use to put wigs on. Then just dress the dummy in the actors clothes and let the dummy perform.
I Will email you the drawings that I did as a guide for you.

how about using a melon (the one with the red insides) for the head - then when it hits off the ground it will shatter into pieces like a skull, with the red brains skattering all over the place... ahem.... yeh, you know

Hey
Just wondered if you'd sent that e-mail, I probably should've mentioned that I wanted to test on wednesday since were shooting next week and want to know if we can use it.
Cheers.
And the melon comment is duly noted. it's Dogma-esque.

You want to use a cantaloupe. Slightly softer.

Hi, I too have a scene in my first movie (which I hope to begin shooting this week) where someone falls off the roof, been wondering how to do it so I'll try your suggestions. I'll leave out the melon though as the baddy comes back in the sequel. I'll try it in my zombie film sometime in the future.
thanks Malcolm B
